The following are all of the comic books I will be pulling for this week. I chose this time not to provide you with a synopsis of the books (as this week there were a couple spoilers), but I'm debating changing that in the future as it gives you the ability to choose for yourself whether you want to research the book further. It's a full week, so let's get to the list!
Batman and Robin #13
Glad to see Batman and Robin returning this month, after the big Joker reveal, I've been really anxious to read this issue, I just wish I hadn't have read the synopsis because it is quite the spoiler. I'll spare you the details (just in case you didn't read any of the synopsis yourself) and just say that we will finally get some missing pieces from Batman: RIP and Final Crisis. All of that being said, even with the major hiccup with Jason Todd, this series has gotten me excited for new comic books every single month and as long as that continues, it has an easy place on my pull list.
Batman: Odyssey #1 (of 6)
Neal Adams writing and drawing Batman? Enough said, this one easily makes it to my pull list.
Brightest Day #5
Oh Brightest Day, I'm still waiting. With Blackest Night, I was immediately hooked and couldn't wait for the next issue to come out, not so much with Brightest Day. In fact, I set aside #4 and didn't end up reading it until a week later, that would have never happened with Blackest Night. Luckily though (if the synopsis is right), it looks like we'll be getting some questions answered in this issue and then maybe the series will start to pick up the slack.
Brightest Day The Atom Special #1
Even with all of my reservations about Brightest Day, this was an easy issue to put on my pull list. Why? Jeff Lemire! He's been doing a fantastic job on Sweet Tooth and I can't wait to see what kind of mark he'll be making on the DCU.
Demo Vol. 2 #6 (of 6)
This is a fun little book that I have been enjoying quite a bit. Each book is essentially a one-and-done story that typically has a lot of twists and turns in it. I'm not reading the synopsis (as I want to be surprised), but Brian Wood has been doing an excellent job so far, so I have no reason to believe that this book won't be excellent.
I, Zombie #3
This is one of the more interesting books that I have been reading recently and yet I almost didn't pick it up because of the incredibly lame name. So far I am a little wary about how long the story will keep my interest, but the art (done by Mike Allred) has been fantastic. I'm trying not to have too high of hopes, but so far I'm loving it.
Red Hood: Lost Days #2 (of 6)
Full disclosure: I love Red Hood. I know he is one of the more hated characters in the DCU, but I can't get enough of him. The only thing better than Red Hood for me is Judd Winick writing Red Hood, and this book has both of those things!
Red Robin #14
It made me very sad to hear that Chris Yost was leaving Red Robin with issue #12. He had been doing a fantastic job and I loved every single issue. I was glad to hear that his successor was going to be Fabian Nicieza as I know that he has a great grasp of Tim's character, but even then, a switch in writers always makes me very nervous. I am pleased to say that Fabian did a kick-ass job with issue #13 and I'm excited to pick up issue #14.
Scarlet #1
Brian Bendis and Alex Maleev? Count me in. Also, this totally looks like my kind of a book, gritty and kick-ass!
Shadowland #1
I don't know much about this book, but I'm trying to introduce myself to some Marvel characters and this seemed like a decent place to start. Sounds like a fun series, so I'm excited to give it a try!
The Walking Dead #74
The build up continues for what is supposed to be a huge issue #75. I can't wait to see what direction Robert Kirkman will take the series in, but I'm guessing that our group of survivors won't end up being at peace in their new found surroundings. I just recently caught up on my reading of The Walking Dead and I can't wait to sit down and read this! Only 3 more months until the premiere of the AMC series!
Thor: The Mighty Avenger #1
Can't say I've ever read any Thor... I plan to go back and read some of JMS's Thor (as I have heard glowing things about it), but until then, this #1 looks like it may give me a decent starting point.
X-Men #1
So, I've never read an X-Men book. Yeah... so I figure I need to change that and a #1 issue always makes me feel like I can jump on to a series without it hurting too much. Hope it's good!
